Alhamdulillah, we have received the news of the sighting of the moon from the Imam of Darwin Mosque. Therefore, the first day of Ramadan is Monday, the 1st of September.
On behalf of IISNA, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our brothers, sisters and sponsors who have supported us through a successful year. Furthermore, I would like to thank the volunteers and IISNA committee who have sacrificed many hours in assisting us through our lecture series' and our public events.
I would like to ask our brothers and sisters to forgive myself and the IISNA committee if we have caused any harm or offended anyone during the year.
Once again, we wish all the Muslims the best of Ramadan and hope that all can use this opportunity to increase their imaan and improve ties with one another.
Director of IISNA,
Abu Hamza

"O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious)."Al-Qur'an 2:183
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”(Al-Bukhari & Muslim). And al-Bukhaari and Muslim also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

Interviewing 18 Israeli soldiers and three officers, Yishai-Karin heard confessions of brutal assaults troops routinely commit against Palestinians.
All of the interviewees were among those serving with her at an army base in Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
After finishing service, Yishai-Karin spent seven years investigating soldiers' abuse of Palestinians during the first intifada in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Some of the interviews soldiers revealed how they enjoyed the intoxication of power when they abuse helpless Palestinians.

Questions have been raised about how Sydney's Catholic Archbishop George Pell dealt with a priest found to have committed indecent assault on a boy.
ABC's Lateline program has revealed that Cardinal Pell went against the advice of church investigators when he wrote to victim Anthony Jones to tell him that his claims of sexual abuse by Father Terence Goodall could not be substantiated.
But the Cardinal now says the letter was a mistake, after Lateline reported that on the same day he signed another letter to a different man who also had complained about Father Goodall.
